Emotional triggers are like the tremors that those who live in earthquake prone states feel after a quake strikes. Depending on the severity of the quake the tremors can strike fear in those who survive the quake. When grief and loss strikes it is the triggers that continue on indefinitely and may need to be worked on in the confines of a trusted relationship. The woman who called into this radio program said she had been waking up to nightmares surrounding when she lost a child 5 years ago and what these three found out was she really didn't run through the grief, but she skirted around it using humor and avoidance as her mechanisms to survive it. Only when we lean into our grief do we find meaning in our triggers and they become less and less of worry for us. This video is 9 minutes long and worth every minute in watching.
